DRY BLENDING:

The colorant must be premixed with plastic granules and wetted with the colorant before moulding operations. A suitable wetting agent recommended is mineral oil, butoxy ethyl sterate or butyl sterate.

FLUORESCENT INK CONCENTRATES

(FF INK CONCENTRATES)

CHARACTERISTICS:

Flamingo Fluorescent (FF) Ink Concentrates have been specially formulated for use in Production of high strength Letterpress and Offset Litho Inks. FF Concentrates are available in a wide variety of bright fluorescent colors. They contain extremely fine pigment particles, well dispersed in a high grade printing ink vehicle. The pigment dispersion is such that no further pigment milling or grinding is required. High strength FF Concentrates are supplied in such a form that it can be easily converted into Finished Offset or Letterpress Inks, by extending it up to 20% with Varnish, Solvents, Oil, and Driers. By properly modifying with such extenders a wide variation in Viscosity, Tack and Drying Time is possible in order to meet all type of requirements.

ADDITIVES FOR F.F. INK CONCENTRATES:

VARNISHES : Bodied Oil & Varnish made with phenolics & certain alkys have been found to be suitable.

SOLVENTS: Conventional Ink Solvents can be used. Highly Polar, Strong Solvents should be avoided.

DRIERS:  Lead & Cobalt Octoates based Driers are preferred. Use only minimum quantities in order to prevent detrimental effect on the color and brightness of the ink. TONERS: : Various conventional non-fluorescent toners may be added, ie. Naphthol Red, Benzedine Orange & Yellow, Phthalo. Green, Phthalo. Blue etc. Toner Concentrations from 1 to 2 % should be tried. However, please note that Non-Flourescent Toners decrease the brightness of the finished inks. LIGHT FASTNESS : Inks made from FF Concentrates are recommended for indoor use or short term outdoor exposure.

APPLICATIONS:

The material is used in the manufacture of fluorescent colored Crayons and Pencils. The plastic crayon matrix is manufactured keeping in mind the requirements of moulding techniques. The plastic crayon matrix matrices can be injection moulded or gravity moulded.
