NITROCELLULOSE PIGMENTED CHIPS

INTRODUCTION:

Pigmented chips are concentrated pigments dispersions based on various resins such as Nitrocellulose, Acrylic and Polyamide. The pigments and Resins selected are the best available to our knowledge from international sources.  We can offer 70% or 50% pigmented chips of various organic pigments.

ADVANTAGES:

Excellent properties results in using chips:

The additional advantages in terms of economics result from:

Apart from the above, hygienic dust free manufacturing process make the manufacturing through chips route more desirable.

APPLICATION AREAS:

1. "N" Grade (Nitrocellulose Pigmented Chips)

2. "A" Grade (Acrylic Pigmented Chips)

3. "P" Grade (Polyamide Pigmented Chips)

With / without can be used in combination with NC based Varnish selectively on under mentioned substrates (with / without treatment).

BULK MANUFACTURER OF INK FROM CHIPS

1. Machinery:

Existing high speed stirrers with saw tooth blade. Speed of blade tip should reach 1500 meter / min. ie. a stirrer with 40 cm diameter moving at 1100 - 1440 RPM is suitable.

2. Vessel Required:

Vessel diameter = 3 x blade or stirrer diameter (Approx. but not more).

Height of stirrer from bottom of vessel = 1/3 x blade or stirrer diameter.

These conditions ensure good mixing without any dead spots.

3. Method:

Use higher viscosity medium initially and let down after final mixing.

4. Mixing Time:

Within 60 minutes.

Comment: Best results are obtained if chip preparation is allowed to swell for 12 - 24 hours in preferably equal part of solvent containing inert solvent suitable for particular application. This may enable dispersion within 15 minutes.

MIXING METHOD (LABORATORY TEST FOR INKS)

  1. Weigh amount of chip necessary to provide given pigment strength in final ink and grind to small pieces.
  2. Weigh NC varnish (if necessary to add NC to adjust viscosity), solvent and additives in a container.
  3. Use a high speed stirrer (500 rpm) with speed regulator and a saw tooth stirrer.
  4. Stir item 2 to uniformity and raise speed to 50% of full.
  5. Start adding chips slowly at a constant stirrer speed.
  6. When chips addition is complete, increase speed to nearly full taking care for spillage. Clamp or hold the container while mixing run for 25 minutes.
  7. Make up for lost solvent and stir well.
  8. Use this ink to test dispersion / shade /stability etc...
  9. Ensure the container diameter is approximately three times the stirrer diameter.

OTHER RELEVANT DETAILS:

Form: Chips of irregular size.

Packing: 30 Kgs Fiber Drum or Corrugated Box.

Storage: Must be stored in a cool, dry room protected from open fire and light including direct sunlight. Care should be taken to avoid heat accumulation inside container. If the storage conditions are suitable, the preparation can withstand outside temperature upto 65 ºC.
